L. Blaise Hues writes young adult fiction that doesn’t flinch. Her stories are set in prisons, fractured societies, and morally gray worlds where survival comes at a cost and where hope, when it appears, has been earned.

She is married to an Army Foreign Area Officer and has spent years moving with her family, learning how displacement, loyalty, and endurance impact people. Those experiences inform her work, which blends speculative fiction with emotional realism and characters who refuse easy answers.

Hues holds a BA in International Cultural Studies and an MFA in Creative Writing. She has spent more than a decade training in martial arts, an experience that shapes how she writes violence and restraint. She speaks four languages and runs the boutique press Stag Beetle Books.

When she’s not building worlds, she’s usually training, reading, or performing. Her work is grounded in embodiment as much as imagination, and her novels are known for their intensity, moral complexity, and emotional authenticity.
